Summer Meeting at Copt Heath GC, Solihull

By |2019-06-04T13:09:12+01:00June 4th, 2019|Uncategorized|

Due to an unfortunate clash with a rescheduled significant industry event, please note that our Summer Meeting will now be held on Monday 1st July 2019 and not Thursday 27th June as previously advised. Once again, and with grateful thanks for their ability to accommodate the change of date, we return to Copt Heath Golf Club, centrally located near Solihull, and with happy memories of the excellent day we had last year. This attractive course designed by Harry Varden and Harry Colt is rated in the Top 100 and home of the Peter McEvoy Trophy. For details see: www.coptheathgolf.co.uk [...]

Another great day at Hankley Common GC

By |2019-05-29T16:45:55+01:00May 29th, 2019|Uncategorized|

Hankley Common GC served up another superb CILT Golf Society event with their usual clubhouse hospitality being every bit as warm as the glorious weather we enjoyed on this beautifully presented course. This year, in addition to the wonderful social camaraderie and business networking, there was also a very special presentation to our long-standing Golf Forum Chairman from the Society members as he celebrated his milestone birthday with our help. It was evident that our guests did not require much persuasion to join the party at this quality venue. Gary Brown, the professional [...]

An Invitation to the Spring Meeting

By |2019-04-14T11:15:00+01:00April 9th, 2019|Uncategorized|

Our Spring Meeting on Tuesday 14 May 2019 will again be held at our favourite venue Hankley Common Golf Club. This beautiful high-quality heathland course near Farnham, Surrey, which originated in 1897, is used as an Open Regional Qualifying Course and was voted number 41 in the Golf Monthly Top 100 courses and 46 in the Golf World Top 100 list (see www.hankley.co.uk for more details). The Clubhouse opens from 0730 and, from 0800, coffee and a bacon roll will be available. Play will start at 0900 with an 18-hole Handicap Stableford (off full handicap) played in three’s, using [...]

Season-opening Members Meeting

By |2019-04-04T20:13:58+01:00April 4th, 2019|Uncategorized|

Despite the flowering trees and an iconic clubhouse, it is obvious from the wet weather gear that our first ‘major’ event of 2019 was not held in Augusta! 17 members and 3 guests attended the season opening Members Meeting at Beaconsfield Golf Club on 2nd April 2019. It was especially good to see some new faces who, we hope, will be able to join us at future events. For the time of year, the golf course was in excellent condition – especially the true-running greens. Compensation for the chilly, damp weather came in the form of social and business [...]

The 2019 Season Starts Here

By |2019-02-08T20:58:19+00:00February 6th, 2019|Uncategorized|

The CILT Golf Society enters its 24th (yes, twenty fourth!) season with the Members' Meeting at Beaconsfield Golf Club on Tuesday 2nd April 2019. Our first outing at this venue last year was hampered by the weather but we’re optimists! If you are a current or past member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport AND a golfer, we urge you to join us at this HS Colt designed parkland course set in well-wooded land with its traditional style clubhouse. It is an attractive and popular venue and we look forward to a great [...]

Brian Allen – Sorely Missed

By |2019-11-18T15:14:07+00:00January 15th, 2019|Uncategorized|

Brian had been a stalwart of the Golf Society for many years, acting as the organiser of our annual Spring pilgrimage to Hankley Common and as stated by Chairman, Paul Symes, "....my local R&A Rules adviser". How sorely Brian's friendship will be missed by members of the Golf Society can be judged by email messages received shortly after his death was made known: 'Such sad news, what a wonderful friend and companion......' '...…...spent some quality time chatting with Brian in Cornwall and couldn’t agree more with the other comments about what a [...]
