By September this year I think we are all expecting that the wider world will have returned to some sort of normality and we have based our plans this year with that expectation. On the first day, we will play Moortown Golf Club, Leeds; home of the 1929 Ryder Cup. We then travel across the A64 to the York Hilton; our home in the centre of York, for the next two nights. On Day 2, we head north to tackle Kirkbymoorside; the home course of Gus Whyte. Ganton has seen a number of improvements since we were last there, as it prepares for the Brabazon Trophy, and awaits us on Day 3. We will return to 31 Castlegate for Monday night’s dinner.

Our headline price for 2 members sharing a twin room reflects the quality of golf courses that we will be playing at a subsidised member’s rate of £345 that includes all golf, bed and breakfast accommodation for 2 x nights with dinner on the Monday night and a sandwich lunch at Ganton Golf Club. Rooms have been provisionally reserved for Saturday & Tuesday night too, if required.

 Itinerary & Golf

Please find the link to our DRAFT itinerary for the weekend. Moortown hosted the 1929 Ryder Cup and is one of the ‘standout courses in Yorkshire. On Day 2 we head north to Kirkbymoorside, the home club of CILT past Captain, Gus Whyte.  Gus assures us that it is a fair but challenging course that he knows will be enjoyed by all of us. On day 3 we make a welcome return to Ganton; the home course of member Alan Swindley, host to the 1949 Ryder Cup and famed for its fearsome bunkering. I am positive you will enjoy all three courses.

We will be staying at the York Hilton Hotel that is right bang smack middle of the city. You can either stay in a single room or share a twin room. I have provisionally held rooms for 36 so an early indication of your attendance will give me time to reserve more.

We will return once more to the excellent Castlegate restaurant for Monday night’s dinner. It is only 50 yards away from the hotel and the ambience is perfect. Gus and Bob will be sharing, once more, their cultural and comic insights…and at no extra charge!

Car Parking

Valet Car parking is available on site for £20 per night but there is a huge RINGO operated car park outside the hotel that is very reasonably priced.
