Our Autumn Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 14 October 2020 at Northamptonshire County Golf Club, Golf Lane, Church Brampton, NN6 8AZ which is 4m NW of Northampton.  This Harry S Colt course opened in 1910 is a traditional inland golf course with undulating woodland, gorse, heather and fine pine woods.  It is ranked as one of the Top 100 Golf Courses, has been the venue for the prestigious PGA Seniors Pro Championship and is regularly used as a Regional Qualifying Course for the Open Championship.  For further details see  www.countygolfclub.org.uk

Ensuring that we comply with Covid-90 restrictions, keep safe and are not responsible for spreading this virus is paramount.  This means complying with local travel and lock-down restrictions, track and trace requirements and not attending if you have any symptoms.  These restrictions may change or tighten up before the meeting but, currently, the meeting is open to all Golf Society members and their guests and the format for this meeting has been modified in order to meet the restriction of “gatherings of 6”.  This means limiting our numbers to a maximum of 30, play and seating in the clubhouse will be arranged in groups of 4 – and no mingling!

From 0830 – Optional 9 extra holes (extra charge of £10).

From 1030 – Coffee, Bacon Bap and Chips.

From 1130 – an 18-hole Stableford competition starting from 1st tee.

Approx 1730 – Dinner and Prize-giving, including the award of The John Swanson-Smith Trophy (to the member with the lowest combined handicap score over two of the main annual golf meetings for the year.)

We have sponsorship support for the dinner from FPS (thanks to Adrian Malupa) and Artko for the wine (thanks to Michael Pestereff), and from Golf Society funds.  With this help we have reduced the package cost from £95 to £50 per person for members and £60 per guest.  There will be an additional £10 charge for those wishing to play the extra 9 holes.

Brian Childs has again kindly offered to take in the bookings for this meeting but may be away on that date.  To comply with ‘track and trace’ requirements it is essential that you provide contact details (including for your guests) so please fully complete the Autumn20 – Entrance Form and return it with your payment details to Brian by 4 October 2020.  Brian’s contact details are Tel: 07770 382371, E-Mail: childsb@sky.com     Tee times and directions to Northampton County Golf Club etc will be issued on receipt of the attached Entry Form.  Please note that the Society will be charged for the numbers confirmed 4 working days prior to the event so bookings must be accompanied with the appropriate fees and no refunds can be given for changes received after 9 October.

Please observe the Northampton County Golf Club Rules which can be seen on www.countygolfclub.org.uk/visitors – noting shorts should be accompanied with knee-length socks of one colour, shirts should be tucked into trousers and noting their mobile phone and tablet policy.

I’m not sure whether there will be any demand for nearby overnight accommodation but The Poplars Hotel, Cross Street, Moulton, NN3 7RZ (Tel: 01604 643983) was previously used by some and there are Holiday/Premier Inns in the Northampton area.
